A nun has been murdered in the southern Indian state of Kerala, reports Fides.
Sister Amala Valummel, 69, was found dead on 17 Sep. at her convent in the town of Palai.
This is the fourth incident involving an Indian nun that World Watch Monitor has reported in 2015.
In March, a 74-year-old Mother Superior was gang-raped at a convent in Ranaghat, near Kolkata.
In June, several thousands of Christians protested after reports emerged that two men had sexually assaulted another nun in Chhattisgarh state.
Then in July, a nun decided to give up her “dream” of becoming a doctor, after she was banned from wearing her veil and cross during medical exams in the village of Kanjiramkulam, also in Kerala state.
Last week, World Watch Monitor reported that the number of violent attacks on Christians and churches in India increased over the summer, with 18 incidents recorded in July, August and the first week of September.
